@stefano@bsd.cafe Not sure if this is worth flagging for #littleFedi but for the record - I'm experiencing 405 errors on the home timeline using IOS Mona app. Other timelines are OK with this app. I also can't post with Mona. Flare for IOS works perfectly though. I don't experience any of these issues with mastodon.bsd.cafe.

So I'm not sure if it's a config issue on my part (probably), the way littleFedi processes this, or Mona.

Is there anybody experiencing similar issues on Mona or other apps with littleFedi?

@andyc @chrism @stefano Exactly. I already contacted Mona and they said:

“It could be that Mona uses some Mastodon APIs that your server hasn’t yet supported. If that’s the case, lowering your declared compatible Mastodon version may help solve the error. (1/2)

Bastianoso Geratewohl
@Bastianoso @mastodon.social

An HTTP 405 Method Not Allowed error is a client-side status code indicating that the server recognizes the requested URL, but the specific HTTP method used (e.g., GET, POST, PUT, DELETE) is not permittedfor that resource.”

My littleFedi is stating:

"version": "4.4.0",
"api_versions": {
"mastodon": 2
}

But I don’t want to fiddle around with that at the moment. Icecubes seems to work (2/2)

@Bastianoso@mastodon.social @andyc@yakshaving.social @chrism@social.nfbsd.dev @stefano@bsd.cafe Thank you for this, it is very reassuring I’m not alone.

For completeness I would like to get Mona to work so I’ll try and find the time over the weekend to have a look at this.

Does anyone know where these settings are or if they can be overridden in the config file? I suspect that it’s not a simple matter of changing them without repercussions, Stefano? Thoughts??

Ice Cubes works very well though.😀

And, given the Nobel Prize for physics has just been announced as the recipient working at IceCube Neutrino Observatory, I’ll take that as rather fitting and confirmation that Ice Cubes app is cool. 😊

@chrism @andyc @stefano The home timeline itself loads correctly:

GET /api/v1/timelines/home → 200

However, @MonaApp also calls GET /api/v1/statuses, an endpoint introduced in Mastodon 4.3 for fetching multiple statuses. littleFedi apparently doesn’t support this endpoint:

GET /api/v1/statuses → 405 Method Not Allowed… (1/3)

Bastianoso Geratewohl
@Bastianoso @mastodon.social

Mona then seems to treat the 405 as a failed refresh, even though the home timeline itself was successfully returned with 200.

Interestingly, littleFedi advertises itself via /api/v2/instance as "version":"4.4.0" with "api_versions":{"mastodon":2}.

Ivory and Ice Cubes work fine with the same littleFedi instance. (2/3)

So this looks like a small gap in littleFedi’s Mastodon API compatibility that Mona happens to hit while the other clients don’t. (3/3)
@chrism @andyc @stefano @MonaApp

@Bastianoso@mastodon.social @andyc@yakshaving.social @stefano@bsd.cafe @MonaApp Thank you for taking the time to look into this. Great work! 😊

So, I suppose it means there is not a lot we can do. Perhaps wait for upgrades from one or both sides?

Since other clients work, perhaps Mona can do something?

@chrism @Bastianoso @andyc We'll have a look at this and try to fix it. Reducing the announced "Mastodon" version would cause issues with quote posts, so I'd suggest again reducing it.

That said, the devs are trying to make sure apps will work as much as possible, but it's easier for open source apps (or apps we have the code for, like MastoBlaster). For closed apps it's harder. We'll try to do our best, but we can't guarantee it will continue to work.

That's the reason why the PWA is so complete.

@stefano @chrism @andyc Thanks a lot! And please don’t get us wrong, we love #littleFedi! So far it’s a wonderful piece of software and works like a charm. Very impressive for a first release 😊
